This was a group of Sex Pistols fans from the Bromley borough of London, many of whom went on to be in other famous punk bands. Formed in 1976, the original line up lasted for just one 20 minute gig, as part of Malcolm McLaren's 'International Punk Rock Festival', at the 100 Club. After recruiting further members, Siouxsie and the Banshees signed a record deal in 1978 and developed their sound from the punkish 'wall of sound' to more unusual chromatic experimentation, developing the Goth style. By the tour of 1981, they had released three albums and had had hits with the singles Hong Kong Garden, Happy House and Christine.","physicalDescription":"Poster, printed with teal and black ink, with white writing advertising a Siouxsie and the Banshees concert at Hemel Hempstead Pavillion, Wednesday 2nd September at 7.15pm","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Publicity & Display Ltd","id":"A22031"},"association":{"text":"Printer","id":"x30811"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Publicity & Display Ltd","id":"A22031"},"association":{"text":"Designer","id":"x36960"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"},{"text":"ink","id":"AAT15012"}],"techniques":[{"text":"printing","id":"AAT53319"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Printed ink on paper","categories":[{"text":"Entertainment & Leisure","id":"THES48959"},{"text":"Posters","id":"THES252963"},{"text":"Advertising","id":"THES49001"},{"text":"Music","id":"THES253065"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&P","id":"THES48602"},"images":["2009BY0346"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"006","id":"THES345292"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"posters","id":"AAT27221"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Godalming","id":"x37542"},"association":{"text":"Manufactured","id":"x29350"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1981","earliest":"1981-01-01","latest":"1981-12-31"},"association":{"text":"Printed","id":"AAT53319"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"76.3","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"50","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Poster issued in 1981 advertising Siouxsie and the Banshees concert at Hemel Hempstead Pavillion","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["S.4397-1995"],"accessionNumberNum":"4397","accessionNumberPrefix":"S","accessionYear":1995,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":["2019LN8863","2019LR6192","2019LT6501","2019LW3340"],"recordModificationDate":"2026-02-04","recordCreationDate":"2008-04-24","availableToBook":false}}
