Balakjian was Freud’s printer from 1985 and worked closely with him on the production of his etchings.\n\nThis print is a portrait of Marilyn Gurland, a lawyer, who wrote to Freud offering herself as a sitter. She is also the subject of his painting Naked Solicitor (2003, private collection). The plate was etched and proofed by Paul Dewis at London Print Studio, and then reproofed and printed by Marc Balakjian at Studio Prints.
