Worn tilted forward. Swathed around the side band and part of the brim is a length of silk crepe shaded from mauve to deep reddish purple. Its two ends stream over the black brim (secured to the brim edge in soft pleats by stitching). Three velvet bows (pale pink, deep pink and reddish purple) are secured to the side band above the steamers.
