It is an essential product in any Chinese household, as the Chinese believe drinking boiled water is hygienic and nurturing. This tableware range, designed by Ran Xiangfei, features the ‘rice-grain’ pattern, an iconic design and incredible technique in Chinese porcelain. The geometric patterns are created by piercing small holes on unfired ceramic body; the holes are then filled with clear glaze. The designer purposely retains the traditional layout of the ‘rice-grain’ as a reminiscent of traditional eating and drinking vessels. The 'Rice Grain' range is developed from the idea of making a sustainable product that accommodates contemporary Chinese lifestyle, combining modern design and traditional craftsmanship.
