Henry starred as Lola from the 15th September 2015 to the 8th July 2017.\r\n\r\nKinky Boots was adapted from the 2005 British film of the same name, inspired by a real Northampton shoe factory. The book was written by Harvey Fierstein, with music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper. The musical follows Charlie Price, who has inherited his father's failing shoemaking business, Price & Son. On a trip to London, Charlie meets the drag and cabaret performer Lola. Forming a plan to save the factory, Charlie and Lola collaborate to produce a line of high-heel boots designed for drag queens. \r\n\r\nFirst staged in Chicago in 2012, Kinky Boots opened on Broadway at the Al Hirschfield Theatre, New York in 2013. The show also opened in the West End at the Adelphi Theatre, London in 2015. Winning six Tony Awards in 2013, including Best Musical and Best Original Score, the West End production went on to win three Olivier Awards for Best New Musical, Best Actor in a Musical (Matt Henry) and Best Costume Design (Gregg Barnes) (2017).\n\nThis costume was worn by Lola in the Milan fashion show scene in Act II. The costume also appears on the West End poster and marketing material.","physicalDescription":"S.178:1-2020\r\nLong-sleeved thigh-length scarlet lace tunic with plunging V-neck effect on brown net base, encrusted with scarlet glass brilliants and sequins\r\n\r\nS.178:2-2020\r\nRed patent leather platform thigh boot for the right foot with gem-encrusted stiletto heels, satin side seams with zip fastening and red cross-lace effect down the front seam\n\nS.178:3-2020\nRed patent leather platform thigh boot for the left foot with gem-encrusted stiletto heels, satin side seams with zip fastening and red cross-lace effect down the front seam\n\nS.178:4-2020\nLong wavy chestnut and dark brown wig on mesh base with forehead band, labelled inside with a printed label for The Big Wig Company","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Barnes, Gregg","id":"AUTH385779"},"association":{"text":"costume designers","id":"AAT163428"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Sewn lace and net, glass brilliants, metal sequins, patent leather, satin, metal zip.
