She is primarily a photographer, but has also worked with video and live performance.  Belin’s early work was inspired by photography as a medium, leading her to explore its aesthetic potential. Belin’s more recent work has embraced new  technology, blurring the lines between illusion and reality whilst experimenting with different processes and techniques.\r\n\r\n\tBelin studied at École Beaux-arts de Versailles from 1983-5, and then at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Art de Bourges where she obtained the French higher  national diploma in visual expression in 1988. She has held several solo exhibitions including a major retrospective at the Centre Pompidou, Paris in 2015. Her  work is held in numerous public collections, including the Musée d’art Moderne de la ville de Paris, Kunsthaus Zürich, Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the  San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. She was awarded the Prix Pictet in 2015 with her series Still Life, and made an Officer of France’s Ordre des Arts et des  Lettres, 2017.\r\n\r\n\tInspired by the museum’s collections, Belin made a new series in 2019, 'Reflection', exploring street photography and storefront window  displays. Her fractured, dreamlike landscapes, made using digital manipulation and superimposition, examine the visual vernacular of  urban streets. Belin brings a fresh perspective to historical collections, exploring the line between artifice and reality.
