Moulded in relief with, on one side, a man in Scottish dress lighting his pipe by a fireside and men behind him carousing on an ale bench. On the other side is Tam O'Shanter riding his horse across a bridge pursued by witches, one of whom grasps the horse's tail. A wreath of thistle runs horizontally below the neck and the lip is decorated on either side with a leaf scroll.","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"William Ridgway & Co.","id":"A18678"},"association":{"text":"manufacturer","id":"AAT25230"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"stoneware","id":"x30197"}],"techniques":[{"text":"moulded","id":"x30076"},{"text":"glazed","id":"AAT53914"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Smear-glazed buff stoneware, moulded in relief","categories":[{"text":"Ceramics","id":"THES48982"},{"text":"Stoneware","id":"THES48890"}],"styles":[{"text":"Victorian","id":"AAT21232"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"CER","id":"THES48594"},"images":["2009CT1001","2006BB1686"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"139 (VA)","id":"THES49874"},"free":"","case":"G1","shelf":"1","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Jug","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Hanley","id":"x32079"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1835-1840","earliest":"1835-01-01","latest":"1840-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Bequeathed by Brigadier W.E.Clark CMG, DSO through Art Fund","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"22","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"'Published by W Ridgway & Co, Hanley, October, 1835'","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"impressed"},{"content":"'6'","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"impressed"},{"content":"'O' [sic]","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"impressed"}],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"'Tam-O'Shanter' jug of smear-glazed buff stoneware, moulded in relief, made at the factory of W.
