Born in Paris, she moved to London with her family and attended school in Brixton, later working at the Bon Marché department store in the area. Involved in a number of dangerous missions during the war, she was captured in occupied France and killed at Ravensbruck concentration camp.  Her legacy was later memorialised in the 1958 book and film entitled 'Carve Her Name with Pride'.
