The Staffordshire potteries were keen to exploit the patriotic consumer market in America and once the war finished in 1815 resumed exporting quantities of wares. This dish was made later, c.1835, and shows continuing patriotic tastes.\r\nThe image is taken from 'Macdonough's victory on Lake Champlain and defeat of the British Army at Plattsburg by Genl. Macomb, Sept.117th 14'18 Engraving by B. Tanner, 1816, after H.
