The sheets could be bought coloured or plain - to be painted at home. The sheets and characters were cut out, backed with cardboard, and used to reproduce the plays in the versions printed by various publishers. The back cloths, front cloths, wings and ground rows fitted into wooden slots, while the characters were attached to metal holders and rods to be manipulated round the stage by the operators who also spoke the words\n\n<i>Mon Théâtre</i> was the French publication produced in Paris by Albert Méricant that produced this theatre.
