Additional patterned wefts are inserted by small shuttles of plain, coloured, gold or silver threads. They were traditionally woven in pit-looms, using unbleached grey yarn for the warp and bleached white yarn for the weft. Being so light, jamdani was suited to the intense summer heat.","physicalDescription":"Sari of white muslin with coloured supplementary cotton wefts ","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"cotton","id":"AAT14067"}],"techniques":[{"text":"jamdani","id":"THES252324"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Cotton, woven (jamdani work)","categories":[{"text":"Textiles","id":"THES48885"},{"text":"Clothing","id":"THES48975"},{"text":"Parasol Foundation Trust Indian Textiles Cataloguing Project","id":"THES263147"},{"text":"Costumes","id":"THES269529"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"SSEA","id":"THES48598"},"images":["2012FM8573","2012FM8572","2019MF6696","2019MF6697","2019MF6698"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"003","id":"THES312475"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Sari","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Dhaka","id":"x30838"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""},{"place":{"text":"Bangladesh","id":"x32444"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"c.1880","earliest":"1875-01-01","latest":"1884-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Length","value":"11","unit":"ft","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"2.8","unit":"ft","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Length","value":"327","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"26/07/2012","earliest":"2012-07-26","latest":"2012-07-26"},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"81","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"26/07/2012","earliest":"2012-07-26","latest":"2012-07-26"},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"1883 Register Entry: DRESS PIECE.
