In 1986 he bought a small plot from an area of comercially farmed land in Eschenau and since then has worked to return it to its natural state using his expertise as a trained horticulturalist. His 1988 compendium of plant names records all those that he remembers ever consuming while damask roses are a recurring material in his installations and publications.\n\n'Die Wiese: Eschenau 1986-2013' with susanne de vries, published by Peter Foolen Editions, Eindhoven, 2013.
