Bailey and R. Reeve, published September 1829 by R.Ackermann & Co. Possibly the watercolour with this title, exhibited at the RA in  1825 (471).  Cf. a companion watercolour, Fountain of Tophana,  Constantinople, also exhibited RA 1825 (550), also engraved (see  SP.443). The fountain is that of Ahmet III, just outside the Bab-i Humayun (Imperial Gate) of Topkapi Sarayi. \r\nThe artist appears to have worked in two distinct styles: the first during the 1810s and early/mid 1820s, represented here by the costume studies and The Fountain of Babhoumayoun (SD.720-741); the second during the late 1820s and 1830s, represented here by the picturesque landscapes (SD.742-756).  Another group of landscapes from the second period, some signed W.
