They are characteristic of the light, delicate and sometimes asymmetric rococo style which was fashionable in Europe. The stones could be a mixture of coloured stones, or, as this case, just one kind of stone. It was usual for diamonds to be set in silver at this date so that that the whiteness of the metal enhanced the diamond.","physicalDescription":"Gold ring mounted with facetted diamonds set in silver","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"gold","id":"AAT11021"},{"text":"diamond","id":"AAT11084"},{"text":"silver","id":"AAT11029"}],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Gold mounted with diamonds set in silver","categories":[{"text":"Jewellery","id":"THES48930"},{"text":"Metalwork","id":"THES48920"},{"text":"Europeana Fashion Project","id":"THES265804"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"MET","id":"THES48599"},"images":["2007BR3466","2007BR3467","2007BM1101"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"91 (VA)","id":"THES49703"},"free":"","case":"12","shelf":"A","box":"11"}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"ring","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Europe","id":"x28842"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1760","earliest":"1755-01-01","latest":"1764-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by the American Friends of the V&A through the generosity of Patricia V.
