It contained\r\nmore than 1000 species, and included the ‘virtues’,\r\nor uses, of each plant. For this edition, the botanist\r\nThomas Johnson (died 1644) added over 800 new\r\nspecies and 700 illustrations.\r\n\r\nInk on paper, woodcut illustrations\r\nPrinted in London by Adam Islip (active 1591-1640),\r\nJoice Norton (active 1632-7) and Richard Whitakers\r\nMuseum no.
