The caption earlier in the volume notes that it refers to an event that took place in 1816.\n\nThe print shows the troupe of Indian jugglers and balancers who became a great attraction in London in 1813 after they were brought to England from Calcutta by Captain Peter Campbell on board <i>HMS Lord Keith. </i>In London Campbell arranged a private performance for the Prince Regent and Parliament before installing them at 87 Pall Mall where for a three shilling entry fee they could be seen four times a day demonstrating 'jugglery, acrobatics, yogic contortions, and sleight of hand'. Campbell took the troupe to Liverpool, Scotland and Ireland after September 1813, and one of its members Ramo Samee left the troupe in 1817 and travelled to the USA where he performed until he returned to London in November 1821.\r\n\n","physicalDescription":"Hand-coloured etching showing three Indian jugglers sitting on a dais, one balancing a whip on the bridge of his nose while twirling rings around his fingers and toes, another playing hand-cymbals, while the third sits cross-legged.
