Her artistic process evolved from a frustration with the limitations of photography in representing place, giving way to a collaging method which creates new and imagined spaces. Talmor’s environments are speculative and fictional, though based on real photographs and, therefore, real places and memories. In her ‘Constructed Landscapes’, Dafna Talmor approaches the subject of landscape photography in a less descriptive, more deconstructive and psychologically charged way. Talmor’s work elegantly deals with a sense of personal displacement. Her environments are fictional though based on real places: collaged and montaged colour negatives culled from different locations and transformed through the physical act of splicing them together.
