In this series of works, Erster Schnee (First Snow), Wenger has focused on the transforming effect of weather conditions and light effects on natural forms. Using the momentary ‘glance’ of photography and the concentrated labour of linocutting, the work explores perceived and measured time. Moments of intense focus on the external world are distilled into fleeting impressions but captured with arresting verisimilitude and on an unusually large - even monumental - scale. Wenger says of his process, “it is always the interplay between doing and thinking, craft and spirit.” ","physicalDescription":"","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Georges Wenger","id":"AUTH349953"},"association":{"text":"Printmaker","id":"AAT25164"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"},{"text":"ink","id":"AAT15012"}],"techniques":[{"text":"Linocut","id":"AAT60720"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Linocut","categories":[{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2019MD6455"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLC","id":"THES49171"},"free":"","case":"MM","shelf":"7","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Print","id":"AAT41273"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Zurich","id":"x29272"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"2016","earliest":"2016-01-01","latest":"2016-12-31"},"association":{"text":"Published","id":"x30682"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Georges Wenger","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"96","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"120","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"","value":"","unit":"","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"","value":"","unit":"","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"","value":"","unit":"","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Georges Wenger, <i>Erster Schnee II (First Snow II)</i>, 2016, Linocut","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[{"text":"The web of branches in the foreground of this textural image draw us into a dense thicket covered in snow.
