Hhe emerged in the 1940s. Simplicity characterises his silver and designs for other metals. There are two main themes in his use of form—one organic, the other geometric. His hand-crafted tea and coffeepots, candlesticks, bracelets and rings have had a decisive influence on later Swedish silversmiths, even though he cannot be said to have created a school of followers.","physicalDescription":"Each bowl is square with rounded corners and slightly curved sides which slope inward and merge in a shallow curve to a flat base. A narrow rim on two sides follows a slightly wider arc than the side of the bowl itself while at either end the handles are formed by a stepped, flared lip which describes two wide arcs that meet at adjacent corners of the bowl. In the closed position, one bowl forms a lid by being inverted and resting on the rim of the other. The flared handles are then at right angles to each other.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Sigurd Persson","id":"A10568"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"x36960"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Silver & Stal","id":"A21347"},"association":{"text":"manufacturer","id":"x33306"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"stainless steel","id":"AAT10920"}],"techniques":[{"text":"stamping (forming)","id":"AAT53138"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Stainless steel","categories":[{"text":"Containers","id":"THES48972"},{"text":"Eating","id":"THES48963"},{"text":"Food vessels & Tableware","id":"THES48952"},{"text":"Metalwork","id":"THES48920"}],"styles":[{"text":"Modernist","id":"AAT21474"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"MET","id":"THES48599"},"images":["2008BT4552","2008BT4474"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"012","id":"THES399657"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"012","id":"THES399657"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Double vegetable dish","id":""}],[{"text":"Double vegetable dish","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Sweden","id":"x29198"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1984","earliest":"1984-01-01","latest":"1984-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by the designer, Sigurd Persson.","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"21","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"21","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"Taken from register","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"cultura 18-8 STAINLESS SWEDEN","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"Each bowl is stamped , at one corner, on the underside of the rim."}],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Double vegetable dish, stainless steel, Sweden, 1984, designed by Sigurd Persson, made by Silver & Stål.","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"<u>Sigurd Persson Design</u>, Stockholm, 1984. ill.
