He began his studies at the Royal College of Art in 1952 and enrolled in the silversmithing school under Robert Gooden.\r\n\r\nHis interest in stainless steel began with a visit to Scandinavia as a student and was followed by a period of work at the firm of J&J Wiggin in Bloxwich.
