Baker, who were all inspired by V&A holdings. \r\n\r\nYueh-Siang Chang, of the Asian Department, has looked at images of this and states that the design is after objects with a royal association, depicted by the 5 clawed dragon (only members of the immediate royal family are allowed use of the emblem of the 5 clawed dragon). There is also the symbol of stable government, which one finds on official court robes (both for royalty and officials): this of the rocks/mountains rising out of the waves. The European origins of the design are revealed by the interspersed rococo leaves.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Furnishing fabric 'Pekin' of printed linen, designed by Mr Thomas, made by G.P. & J.
