Subsequently attributed to Krefeld.\r\n\r\nThe same style of decoration for the horse rider can be seen on a dish attributed to Hoerstgen, dated 1738 (Niederrheinisches, n.231). The horse and rider are left in the white slip with small details such as the hat, cuffs and buttons of the rider are picked out in colours. The Hoerstgen dish commemorates the marriage of Hagh and Rich. Hoerstgen and Krefeld are both in the Lower Rhineland. The rest of the decoration on this dish is different to this one.\r\n\r\nAnother large dish (Niederrheinisches, n.346) bears very similar floral decoration in its borders. It is attributed to Rayen and is dated 1763.\r\n\r\nThere is another dish bearing the inscribed name of 'Peter Menten' (Niederrheinisches nr.440).","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Red earthenware covered with a white slip, with incised decoration of a man on horseback painted with copper green oxide.
