In the post-war austerity this earthenware range was intended to be a basic and inexpensive everyday ware. It was designed to be once-fired thereby keeping the production costs to a minimum. Kaj Franck's designs used basic geometric forms-squares, spheres, cones etc. He intended the small shapes to have more than one purpose and be anonymous enough so that they could be used not only with Kilta series but with other designs as well.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Kilta (Guild) cup and saucer of earthenware with a black glaze, part of a series of dishes, designed by Kaj Franck 1948, made by Arabia, Finland, 1957, in production 1952-1974.","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Opie, Jennifer Hawkins. Scandinavia: ceramics & glass in the twentieth century.
