Primarily taking the form of topographical illustration, it follows a tradition of neo-Romanticism evident in mid-20th century British painting. Point engraving of this type has been practiced at a high level by only a handful of artists, Peter David is one such artist.\nDavid's Work was admired by the engraver Lawrence Whistler, and illustrated prominently in his survey <i>Point Engraving on Glass</i> (1992). This engraved goblet, 'The Forge', exemplifies the delicacy and subtle illusion achievable through the technique.
