Working with Bullseye plate glass, she makes wall-mounted or free-standing three-dimensional 'pictures' in multi-layered glass, which invite deep contemplation.\r\n\r\nInspired by the vast and open Australian landscape, she use the translucent and opaque qualities of glass to capture, absorb and emit light. Such pieces change constantly with the ambient light. Her box sculpture, 'Space Between 9/05', incorporates the purest opaque white glass, conveying the essence of a vast, snowy sky and landscape.\r\n","physicalDescription":"Kiln formed glass box with pure opaque white glass and varients of grey and dark blue to create free-standing three-dimensional picture of a snow covered landscape and sky.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Loughlin, Jessica","id":"C7565"},"association":{"text":"maker","id":"x40240"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"glass","id":"AAT10797"}],"techniques":[{"text":"kiln formed","id":"THES265575"},{"text":"cold worked","id":"AAT169524"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Kilnformed glass, cold-worked","categories":[{"text":"Glass","id":"THES48946"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"CER","id":"THES48594"},"images":["2013GV6477","2013GV6153","2013GV6154","2013GV6155"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"129","id":"THES49886"},"free":"","case":"5","shelf":"2","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Sculpture","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Thebarton","id":"THES261571"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"2005","earliest":"2005-01-01","latest":"2005-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Gift of the artist and Bullseye Glass Co.","dimensions":[],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Glass sculpture, 'Space Between, 9/05', kiln formed and cold-worked, made by Jessica Loughlin in Thebarton, Austraila, 2005","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[{"text":"Jessica Loughlin (b.1975)\n<i>Space Between, 9/05</i>\n2005\n\nJessica Loughlin uses multiple layers of glass to build up ‘pictures of light’ that encourage deep contemplation.
