Other innovations included high-line zipped and step-in girdles and corselettes (combined bras and girdles). \r\n\r\nNew supportive bras included plunge, half-cup and underwired designs. Beautifully crafted bras were made by elite corsetiere Rigby & Peller (est. 1939). Here whirlpool, circular-cup stitching creates a tilted, pointed bustline.","physicalDescription":"Black machine embroidered tulle bra lined in black nylon, with blue and green flowers","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Rigby & Peller","id":"A10326"},"association":{"text":"designer and maker","id":"x34662"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"tulle","id":"AAT256611"},{"text":"nylon","id":"AAT14462"},{"text":"metal","id":"AAT10900"}],"techniques":[{"text":"machine embroidery","id":"x32585"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Machine embroidered tulle and nylon with underwiring","categories":[{"text":"Fashion","id":"THES48957"},{"text":"Accessories","id":"THES48998"},{"text":"Underwear","id":"THES48880"},{"text":"Womenswear","id":"THES49044"},{"text":"Europeana Fashion Project","id":"THES265804"},{"text":"Interiors","id":"THES48933"},{"text":"Household objects","id":"THES48939"},{"text":"Shekou","id":"THES279777"},{"text":"Values of Design","id":"THES279818"},{"text":"Design Society","id":"THES279819"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&F","id":"THES48601"},"images":["2009CD4190","2009CD4189","2006AF5045"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"007","id":"THES309573"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Brassiere","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1955","earliest":"1950-01-01","latest":"1959-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Mrs J.
