Gary Hume made an abstract grid pattern overlapped by circles in each of the colours representing the Underground lines.\r\n\r\nPlatform for Art, London Underground's art programme, commissions artists to create work for the travel network. This continues London Transport's tradition of commissioning artists to create publicity material. As part of this programme, some artists were invited to create covers for the London Underground pocket map.","physicalDescription":"Pocket map of the London Underground, which folds into three vertically, with an abstract image of horizontal elongated diamond shapes in purple, the gaps between coloued in pink, with circles in colours representing the London Underground lines arranged randomly.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Hume, Gary","id":"A9928"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Platform for Art","id":"A14187"},"association":{"text":"commissioned by","id":"x28662"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Transport for London","id":"C8502"},"association":{"text":"publisher","id":"x32600"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"},{"text":"ink","id":"AAT15012"}],"techniques":[{"text":"printed","id":"AAT53319"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Offset lithography on paper","categories":[{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"},{"text":"Maps","id":"THES252964"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":[],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLD","id":"THES49658"},"free":"","case":"FF","shelf":"12","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"print","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":"probably"}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"2005","earliest":"2005-01-01","latest":"2005-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Riikka Kuittinen","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"14.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"7","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"folded","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"approximate viewed through glass","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"London Underground","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"Top of front cover, white on blue strip"},{"content":"Tube map","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"In blue on white towards top of front cover"},{"content":"June 2005","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"In red on white towards top of front cover"},{"content":"MAYOR / OF LONDON","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"In blue (ON in red) on white in band across below centre"},{"content":"Transport for London","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"In blue on white in band across below centre"},{"content":"[London Underground logo]","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"Red and blue on white, white lettering, in band across below centre"}],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Pocket tube map with cover designed by Gary Hume;
