He has a BA in Illustration & Visual Communication from the University of Westminster, and an MA in Visual Communication at the Royal College of Art. Spooner was awarded the Runner-Up prize in the Student Category of the V&A Illustration Awards 2017 for this series, Towards an Infinite Place.  Spooner is interested in what he describes as “superficially unremarkable sites”, deserted liminal urban/suburban places which nevertheless evoke a sense of belonging and memory. All of the prints in the series are based on photographs taken by the artist in the course of evening walks in his native south-west London.","physicalDescription":"Landscape-format print in monochrome showing footpath with plants either side and a pylon in the distance.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Spooner","id":"AUTH345318"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"ink","id":"AAT15012"},{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"}],"techniques":[{"text":"drypoint","id":"AAT53228"},{"text":"etching","id":"AAT53241"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Drypoint and etching","categories":[{"text":"Illustration","id":"THES48938"},{"text":"Landscapes","id":"THES250800"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2017KJ7349"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLE","id":"THES49657"},"free":"","case":"MP","shelf":"37","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"prints","id":"AAT41273"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"printed","id":"x46159"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"2017","earliest":"2017-01-01","latest":"2017-12-31"},"association":{"text":"printed","id":"x46159"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by the artist","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"22.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"sheet","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"26.4","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"sheet","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"Tom Spooner","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"in pencil"}],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Tom Spooner: Untitled from the series 'Towards an Infinite Place', drypoint, 2017","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"From an un-numbered variable edition","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["E.681-2017"],"accessionNumberNum":"681","accessionNumberPrefix":"E","accessionYear":2017,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-11-07","recordCreationDate":"2017-07-17","availableToBook":false}}
