The sheet contains plans of the basement and ground floor, showing an outline of the existing building and the proposed new morning room and schoolroom shaded in coloured wash. Above the plans there are elevations from the North, South and East, a section through two points indicated on the plan below. To the right of the drawings is a written agreement between Webb and the builder, and also written assent from Ionides's neighbours.\r\nConstantine Alexander Ionides was a stockbroker and wealthy art collector who bought 8 Holland Villas Road in the 1860s. Webb, who had also worked for Ionides's father Alexander C. Ionides and brother, Alexander A. Ionides, enlarged the house in 1870. The extension of the house was in part due to Ionides's need for additional wall space for his growing picture collection. Webb later designed a picture gallery for Ionides in his house at 23, Second Avenue, Hove.","physicalDescription":"Contract drawing showing proposed additions to 8, Holland Villas Road, by Philip Webb.
