He commonly appeared on stage in full kilt dress with his knobbly cane (or cromach) to sing songs such as 'I Love A Lassie' and 'Roamin in the Gloamin'. Lauder housed a substantial personal collection of walking sticks and would often gift them to friends and esteemed guests, such as this one presented to an unknown person in 1940.
