She wrote the majority of the twenty-three Original Peter Rabbit Books between 1901 and 1913. The Tale of Peter Rabbit (Frederick Warne, 1902) is her most famous and best-loved tale.\r\n\r\nThe Tale of Squirrel Nutkin (Frederick Warne, 1903) was the second of Beatrix Potter’s ‘little books’ to be published by Warne. The story is set on Derwentwater in the Lake District and features a naughty red squirrel and a tawny owl. It has been suggested that this detailed study of a tree trunk was made with Old Brown’s oak tree in mind. \r\n","physicalDescription":"A detailed view of part of a tree trunk.
