The Paul Getty donation is not referenced in the catalogue of Cecil Beaton's collection. In 1967/1968, Alice Pollock (who was Ossie Clark's business partner at the Quorum boutique) went to the United States on a shopping trip, and brought back a quantity of this rather dramatic Chinese-printed dressing-gown satin. While this example is black-ground, blue, white, and red ground fabric was also purchased. Ossie Clark used it for coats, tailored jackets, and even made entire Lamborghini trouser suits out of it.\r\n- Daniel Milford-Cottam","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Thigh-length double-breasted coat in printed satin, designed by Ossie Clark, London. 1967-1968","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"Fabric was brought back from America by Alice Pollock in ca. 1967 and subsequently used for a number of fashion garments by her and Ossie Clark\n\nAttribution note: Made for Talitha Getty","productionType":{"text":"Haute couture","id":"THES48861"},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[{"text":"Beaton, Cecil","id":"N2787"}],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[{"text":"dragons","id":"x30096"},{"text":"Chinoiserie","id":"AAT21167"}],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["T.95A-1974","T.95-1974"],"accessionNumberNum":"95","accessionNumberPrefix":"T","accessionYear":1974,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE","Belt","Coat"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2026-03-19","recordCreationDate":"2007-08-10","availableToBook":true}}
