Sixteen artists were commissioned to produce fifteen poster designs for these Olympics. A photomontage by April Greiman and (photographer) Jayme Odgers shows the legs of a runner stepping through picture planes from sky onto earth. In 'Red Horseman' Roy Lichtenstein  fragments his image of horse and rider to convey effects of speed and movement. \nThe Olympic Committee for these LA Summer Games additionally chose to advertise specific sports with a separate group of posters, including the diving and cycling posters such as this example. These designs, reminiscent of Art Deco, captured the dynamic movements of individual sportsmen in highly stylised compositions of pattern and colour."}],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["E.348-2006"],"accessionNumberNum":"348","accessionNumberPrefix":"E","accessionYear":2006,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":["2019LT7350","2019LU7592"],"recordModificationDate":"2025-04-09","recordCreationDate":"2007-07-19","availableToBook":false}}
