He is interested in embedded forms, particularly fossils, and has made a particular study of graptolites, the fossil remains of extinct zooplankton. Some of Rosenbloom's recent drawings have been inspired by the Natural History Museum's collection of graptolites. He is also inspired by the Aboriginal rock art of Australia, in which drawings are made over the top of faint and fragmentary existing images.
