At the muzzle is a cone-shaped protrusion, made from blue plastic. Immediately behind the barrel is a ribbed section along the top of the gun, made from transparent red plastic. Behind this are two small, side-facing, circular windows with crosshair details. Through these transparent parts, sparks can be seen when the metal trigger is pulled. In front of the pistol grip is a 'magazine', with moulded detail of four missiles. At the rear, on both sides, is a grille decorated with a generic atomic diagram, through which the sound of the mechanism passes when the trigger is pulled.\n","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"unknown","id":"AUTH317916"},"association":{"text":"manufacturers","id":"AAT25230"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"polystyrene","id":"AAT14492"},{"text":"metal","id":"AAT10900"}],"techniques":[{"text":"injection-moulding","id":"AAT54070"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Injection-moulded polystyrene; metal","categories":[{"text":"Toys & Games","id":"THES262248"},{"text":"Plastic","id":"THES49026"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"YVA","id":"THES48593"},"images":["2017JU8822"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"SR001","id":"THES340938"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"pistol","id":"AAT37160"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Hong Kong","id":"x30049"},"association":{"text":"manufactured","id":"x29350"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1972-1982","earliest":"1972-01-01","latest":"1982-12-31"},"association":{"text":"manufactured","id":"x29350"},"note":"probably"}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Length","value":"27","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Part of the Edward Castle collection.\r\n","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Toy gun, Space Pilot Jet Ray Gun; with sparkling action and sound effect; white plastic & metal, Hong Kong, 1970s?","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"Several versions of this gun in different colours and varying details were made by different manufacturers in Japan, China and Hong Kong.","productionType":{"text":"Mass produced","id":"THES48863"},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[{"text":"pistols","id":"AAT37160"}],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["B.528-2016"],"accessionNumberNum":"528","accessionNumberPrefix":"B","accessionYear":2016,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2026-03-26","recordCreationDate":"2016-11-14","availableToBook":false}}
