He received the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2005. Mayne is very much an artist-architect, in other words an architect who works through his design process via non-traditional forms of architectural representation, especially sculpture and print. \n\n<i>Composite XVII: Yellow</i> is based upon a digital model from a series of abstract wall sculptures that Mayne exhibited in 2011. The print is from a set of twenty different prints produced in an edition of five. It combines both lithography (ink printed via stone) and silkscreen (ink printed via screening). Mayne was assisted by Mike Nesbit, a project designer with Morphosis. The print was made in the lithographic studios of El Nopal Press in conjunction with Wasserman silkscreen studios, Los Angles.
