This print forms part of a portfolio of caricatures, Stage Folk: A Book of Caricatures by Frueh, published by Lieber & Lewis in 1922. \n\nThe print is a caricature of the American stage and screen actor Barney Bernard (1877-1924). Bernard was famous for playing Abe Potash in Potash and Perlmutter, a long-running Broadway comedy based on the short stories of Montague Glass which chronicle the adventures of two Jewish partners in the New York garment trade. The play was first staged in 1913 and was the basis for a film in 1923, in which Bernard recreated the role of Potash.","physicalDescription":"Linocut caricature of Barney Bernard, three-quarter length.
