The upper edge of the knife blades continue the line of the handle and then crops, with a small indentation, to continue in a parallel line to a rounded point. The serrated cutting edge slopes gradually away from the end towards the handle and then returns sharply to connect with the underside. The thin neck of both the forks and the spoons has concave sides. The forks have a curved bowl, straight sides and four elongated prongs. The bowl of the spoons are ovoid; the base of each bowl is off centre. The surface of each handle is given a satin finish in contrast to the highly polished blades and bowls.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Castiglioni, Achille","id":"A19500"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"x36960"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Alessi s.p.a.","id":"A5411"},"association":{"text":"maker","id":"x40240"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Stainless steel","categories":[{"text":"Tableware & cutlery","id":"THES48888"},{"text":"Metalwork","id":"THES48920"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"MET","id":"THES48599"},"images":["2007BR3961"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"005","id":"THES412591"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"005","id":"THES412591"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"005","id":"THES412220"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"005","id":"THES412220"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"005","id":"THES412220"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"005","id":"THES412591"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"005","id":"THES412591"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"005","id":"THES412591"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"005","id":"THES412591"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"005","id":"THES412591"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Knife","id":""}],[{"text":"Fork","id":"AAT43099"}],[{"text":"Spoon","id":""}],[{"text":"Knife","id":""}],[{"text":"Knife","id":""}],[{"text":"Spoon","id":""}],[{"text":"Teaspoon","id":"AAT43180"}],[{"text":"Teaspoon","id":""}],[{"text":"Serving fork","id":""}],[{"text":"Serving spoon","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Milan","id":"x29007"},"association":{"text":"designed","id":"x29338"},"note":""},{"place":{"text":"Milan","id":"x29007"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1982","earliest":"1982-01-01","latest":"1982-12-31"},"association":{"text":"designed","id":"x29338"},"note":""},{"date":{"text":"1982","earliest":"1982-01-01","latest":"1982-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Gift of the manufacturer through Penhallow Marketing Ltd.","dimensions":[],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"'ALESSI INOX 18/10'","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"Trademark stamped on underside of each handle"}],"objectHistory":"Cutlery set awarded the Compasso d'Oro prize in 1984.
