The portrait is formed from layers of fabric, paint and paper. These has been combined to create a full length portrait of Karsavina positioned en pointe and with her head resting on her right hand. She is wearing a white dress with a full scalloped skirt and both the top edge of her skirt, and the edge of her full, 'off the shoulder' sleeves, are decorated with pairs of cherries.
