After spending several years in the Army he studied at Dusseldorf Academy 1948-9, then at St Martin's School of Art, 1949-53. He first exhibited with <u>Young Contemporaries</u> in 1951, and later went on to show widely in the UK.  \r\n\r\nKinley painted a number of comparable figure subjects in 1957, probably the date of this work. At this time he often used a palette knife to apply oil paint in flat planes, a technique which is clearly visible here.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Untitled oil sketch by Peter Kinley.
