In 1967 Neville and Sharp came to the UK and launched 'London Oz', of which this is an issue. Sharp was a gifted artist and his work with the graphic designer Jon Goodchild made Oz one of the most visually dazzling Psychedelic publications of its time. The magazine's content came from many prominent 'Counterculture' contributors and guest editors such Germaine Greer, Barney Bubbles and Robert Crumb. However, the May 1970 issue, edited by a group of school students, would prove a fateful collaboration. The apparent combination of 'school children' with the sexual imagery and drug references typical of the magazine proved too much for the Obscene Publications Squad. Neville, Anderson and Dennis were tried under obscenity laws and sentenced to prison in 1971.
