Illustrated menus such as this were printed in advance on land with the inside (menu part) left blank, to be printed on board ship. Passengers often kept them as souvenirs. The menus reflect the luxury of cruise liner travel during its heyday. \"Strathmore\" was built in 1935 for P&O. She was kept until 1963, when the newly merged P&O-Orient Line replaced its pre-war fleet.\r\n\r\nThis illustration after a watercolour by F.W. Baldwin is of Crowland Bridge, a famous landmark in Lincolnshire. Baldwin lived in Walberswick on the Suffolk coast and his watercolour paintings often featured nearby local landmarks.","physicalDescription":"Printed dinner menu for the P & O line S.S. 'Strathmore', dated Monday, 14th July, 1952. The card is folded once vertically. On the front is a colour printed image, in mainly beiges and greys, taken from or based on a watercolour drawing of Crowland Bridge in Crowland, Lincolnshire, signed F.W. Baldwin. \r\n\r\nOn the inside the menu is printed on the left in a sans serif font, in blue type, except for 'P. & O.' in the top centre (across the fold), which is in red, and the words 'Fancy Dress' at the top in a gothic font in blue. Opposite in two italic fonts (one sans serif capitals, the other serif) are the wine suggestions also in blue. On the back is a description of Crowland Bridge, printed in dark grey ink in a sans serif font.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Baldwin, F.
