She wrote the majority of the twenty-three Original Peter Rabbit Books between 1901 and 1913.  The Tale of Peter Rabbit (Frederick Warne, 1902) is her most famous and best-loved tale.  \r\n\r\nThis loosely rendered sketch of a woodland and a hillside is full of lively brushstrokes. Beatrix Potter enjoyed sketching outside and drew the landscape in all seasons. This study is thought to show Near Sawrey in the Lake District, where Hill Top, the house that Beatrix Potter purchased in 1905, is situated.
