His prints have won recognition in international exhibitions, and are in a number of public collections in the USA. His own life and experience - and his Jewish heritage and culture - are the recurrent themes of his work.\r\n\r\n'Ceremonial Jig Saw' (1972) is one of a number of images in which Feldman has adapted a wedding photograph. The fragmentation of the image is ambiguous - does it represent the piecing together of a new family as the couple come together in marriage or does it predict (or record?) a breakdown and separation? The use of rich colours and the black lines delineating the spaces between the fragments also suggest stained glass - making of the subject something precious, and underscoring the idea of marriage as a religious ceremony.","physicalDescription":"Portrait format print of a bride and groom; the image is repsresented as if fragmented, with black lines demarcating separate areas.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Feldman, Franklin","id":"A18956"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[],"techniques":[{"text":"etching","id":"AAT53241"},{"text":"aquatint","id":"AAT53242"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Etching with aquatint","categories":[{"text":"Marriage","id":"THES48921"},{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2007BM8355"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLE","id":"THES49657"},"free":"","case":"MP","shelf":"227","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"print","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"United States","id":"x29333"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1972","earliest":"1972-01-01","latest":"1972-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by the artist","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"38.1","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"sheet","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"28.4","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"sheet","note":""},{"dimension":"Height","value":"25.4","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"plate","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"16.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"plate","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"'A/P Ceremonial Jig-Saw'","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"inscribed in pencil below the image; and with signature"}],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Print,'Ceremonial Jig-Saw', portrait format print of a bride and groom, etching with aquatint by Franklin Feldman, United States, 1972.","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"<i>Franklin Feldman: Selected Graphic Work 1958-2004</i>with essays by Janis Conner and Kathy Caraccio.
