She wrote the majority of the twenty-three Original Peter Rabbit Books between 1901 and 1913.  The Tale of Peter Rabbit (Frederick Warne, 1902) is her most famous and best-loved tale.  \r\n\r\nBeatrix Potter enjoyed sketching the British landscape in all seasons. From the age of 16 she visited the Lake District regularly with her parents. Many years later, in 1905, she purchased Hill Top Farm, situated by her favourite lake, Esthwaite Water; from this time she made many drawings of the area surrounding the farm. This watercolour study shows the view across Esthwaite Water on a November day in 1909.
