She wrote the majority of the twenty-three Original Peter Rabbit Books between 1901 and 1913. The Tale of Peter Rabbit (Frederick Warne, 1902) is her most famous and best-loved tale. \r\n\r\nBeatrix Potter sketched this lively street scene in pencil before working it up with watercolour. It was recorded by the drawing’s previous owner, the Potter scholar Leslie Linder, as a view of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. However, it has been convincingly re-identified as The Broadway, Amersham. \r\n","physicalDescription":"A pencil sketch worked up with watercolour showing the curve of a street and rows of buildings, including The Griffin public house on the right, drawn on paper used in landscape format.
