In 2000 Porter became deputy fashion editor for <i>The Guardian</i>, and since then, has worked as an associate editor for <i>GQ</i> and deputy editor for <i>Fantastic Man</i>. He currently writes for <i>The Financial Times</i> as their menswear critic, in addition to his freelance work, DJ-ing and maintaining an active blogging presence online. Porter is particularly known for his understanding of contemporary menswear and familiarity with developing streetwear and alternative trends.\n\n- Daniel Milford-Cottam\n20/05/2016\n\nCharlie Porter has commented on this piece as follows:\n\n\"This jacket is a real breakthrough piece for Craig Green. It was from his first stand-alone show, after three seasons with MAN, Fashion East and Topman's incubator collective, and it was a collection that brought the audience to tears. It was the clarity of the work, its sincerity and its emotional power. Craig presented pretty his looks in a series of single colours or cloths, often repeating garments in different shades as the show progressed. This jacket in white opened the show, the first time that Craig had explored the exploded garment - seams unattached, pieces tied together. Its construction is extraordinary, yet the work also has humility. It came towards the end of the show, and by this point I was already crying. It had not been long since the death of Professor Louise Wilson, who had taught and championed Craig at Central Saint Martins. Sat on the front row was Timmi Aggrey, her long-term partner.
