Won the Gold Medal at the Central School of Dramatic Art and appeared in the Chorus of <i>Electra</i> at the Old Memorial Theatre in 1924.  Played \"Ann\" in <i>Outward Bound</i> under Stanley Lathbury's management ; toured with Sybil Thorndike in Greek tragedy and was lead in the original tour of <i>The Farmer's Wife</i>.  Two seasons at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre followed and she afterwards first appeared in London under Sir Barry Jackson's management.\r\n\r\nRecent productions in London include <i>Dear Brutus</i> with Sir Gerald du Maurier, <i>Rose without a Thorn</i>, and <i>The Brontës</i>, in which part she won a big personal success as Emily Brontë.\r\n\r\nShe adapted V.
