She wrote the majority of the twenty-three Original Peter Rabbit Books between 1901 and 1913. The Tale of Peter Rabbit (Frederick Warne, 1902) is her most famous and best-loved tale. \r\n\r\nThis study has been dated to 1903, when Beatrix Potter spent time making drawings at Fawe Park, Keswick, on the north-western side of Derwentwater in the Lake District. The view captured here shows a tall fir tree with a lake beyond, thought to be Derwentwater, and distant hills. During this stay, Potter also made studies in preparation for The Tale of Benjamin Bunny.\r\n","physicalDescription":"Pencil drawing with a fir tree in the foreground of the upright composition, with a lake and distant hills beyond.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Potter, Beatrix","id":"A18000"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"pencil","id":"x30347"},{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"},{"text":"paper (fiber product)","id":"AAT14109"}],"techniques":[{"text":"drawn","id":"x30545"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"pencil on paper","categories":[{"text":"Drawings","id":"THES48966"},{"text":"Landscapes","id":"THES250800"},{"text":"Woman Artist","id":"THES387590"},{"text":"Botanical art","id":"THES277744"},{"text":"Tourism & Travel","id":"THES250702"}],"styles":[{"text":"British","id":"AAT111159"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2020ML6313"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"010","id":"THES318124"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"drawing","id":"x32498"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Derwentwater","id":"x43447"},"association":{"text":"drawn","id":"x30545"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1903","earliest":"1903-01-01","latest":"1903-12-31"},"association":{"text":"drawn","id":"x30545"},"note":"as catalogued by Leslie Linder"}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Linder Bequest [plus object number; written on labels on the same line as the object number]","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"228","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"sheet","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"190","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"sheet","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"'blue / white / dark / blue / grey'","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"inscribed in pencil by the artist to indicate intended colours"}],"objectHistory":"Drawn by Beatrix Potter at Fawe Park in 1903.
