Today, Nike sells an assortment of products, including shoes and apparel for sport activities but also for urban fashion clothing. Nike constantly pushes the boundaries in material and technology for performance footwear, with the aim of enhancing the wearer’s ability. The company was founded in 1964 as ‘Blue Ribbon Sports’ by a track coach and former middle-distance runner. It was renamed Nike in 1971 when it adopted the famous ‘tick’ as logo. The company takes its name from the winged Greek goddess of victory, and is today one of the world’s largest suppliers of athletic shoes and apparel. \r\nNike launched these football boots in March 2014 on the eve of the World Cup in Brazil. The boots feature a one-piece knitted upper, created using the company’s Flyknit technology, which aimed to provide a lighter boot and to bring the player’s foot closer to the ball with a barefoot-like touch. No separate sock is required as shoe and sock are one in this innovative design. \r\n","physicalDescription":"One pair of yellow and orange, knitted football boots, Nike 2014","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"NIKE","id":"AUTH335485"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"x36960"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"synthetic","id":"x33026"}],"techniques":[{"text":"knitted","id":"AAT53634"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Synthetic","categories":[{"text":"Sport","id":"THES48893"},{"text":"Footwear","id":"THES48951"},{"text":"Men's clothes","id":"THES49043"},{"text":"Clothing","id":"THES48975"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&F","id":"THES48601"},"images":["2015HU0343","2015HU0344","2015HL7940"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"002","id":"THES303384"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"002","id":"THES303384"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Shoes","id":"AAT46065"}],[{"text":"Shoes","id":"AAT46065"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"USA","id":"x29333"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"2014","earliest":"2014-01-01","latest":"2014-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Nike","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"150","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"255","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Depth","value":"210","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":"These dimensions were taken during the exhibition Shoes Pleasure and Pain (2015)"}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"This shoes were created in 2014 and they were given to the V&A in 2015 and included in the exhibition 'Shoes: Pleasure and Pain' (RF:2015/225)","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"One-piece knitted upper football boots 'Magista Obra', Nike, 2014","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[{"text":"One-piece Upper \r\n\r\nNike launched these football boots in 2014, on the eve of the World Cup in Brazil.
